Join us on November 7th, at 1pm ET/10am PT for our next virtual CAN meeting: From Engineering to Advocacy: the Need for Comprehensive Plastics Policy (Registration required)
Dr. Anja Brandon will share her journey from techno-optimist engineer to passionate science policy advocate in service of her goal to reduce plastic pollution and its impacts on the marine environment. She’ll challenge the notion of silver bullet solutions to plastic pollution and stress the importance of systemic change. She’ll also share her approach of pushing for the best possible policies to effect such systemic change while avoiding the pitfall of letting perfect be the enemy of good. This includes companies and advocates finding the courage to learn from each other to find ways to collaborate to advance needed solutions.
As with all Future 500 CAN meetings, we will host this discussion under Chatham House Rule to encourage an open and candid dialogue. Come ready with your questions.
Anja is an engineer and material science expert and the Director of Plastics Policy at Ocean Conservancy, where she works to advance policy solutions at the state and federal level around single-use plastics, plastic production, and the transition to a circular economy.
