Take Action
Endorse the Bio-Economy Action Agenda below and join a growing network that is mobilizing support for a bio-economy. Together, we will then write, call, and visit the companies and governmental agencies to encourage them to use their buying power to move beyond petroleum, and build a strong bio-economy.
The SEED Bio-Economy Action Agenda
“We urge leadership companies to transition away from petroleum dependence, and toward proven biobased, zero-waste alternatives, that are more sustainable and environmentally-benign by immediately increasing their purchase and use of:
- Biobased materials such as bio-plastics (usually polymers of starch or polylactic acid (PLA));
- Biobased fuels such as Biodiesel and bioethanol;
- Other safe, clean, biobased alternatives as they become economically and technologically feasible.
“We further encourage companies to leverage their buying power to continuously improve the environmental and social impacts of all resources they use, including biobased materials and fuels, such as by encouraging and rewarding more sustainable industrial and agricultural practices.
"We encourage companies and elected officials to reduce and ultimately eliminate petroleum subsidies, and to create a fair playing field where biobased and other alternatives can compete.
"Finally, we encourage companies to compost or recycle the bioproducts they use and/or sell."
